The blog is open. Thank you for dropping by! Lora and I are awaiting ballots to arrive. While we're waiting, I'm working on two websites: this one and Meandering Cat. My new album, "Defiantly Improved," is out with songs from my experiences. My focus as a songwriter are great melodies like the ones you remember from the 70s and 80s, with influences from Stephen Stills, Richard Carpenter, and America, to name a few. More notes about what's going on to come.

Lora just got me this book. If you've lived in metropolitan Los Angeles, this is a fascinating read. It's one of those books you can skip, hop, and jump through or read from start to finish, and it is interesting, even astounding wherever you land. Being a map geek, I enjoy having Open Street Map or Google Earth open to explore the places the book references. I remember the opening of the Santa Monica Freeway, the earthquake that wrecked the Newhall Pass interchange, the lovely Arroyo Seco Parkway. I'll spend a lot of time with this.
